In recent years, we’ve had many clients come to us, excited to reap the benefits of Apple’s IAP (in app purchases) and subscriptions, however, were very discouraged when we explained Apple took 30% of their revenue. This caused many of our clients to seek our guidance on identifying workarounds, as their new business models would be unable to stomach this.
Apple has finally agreed to reduce these fees to 15% for all small businesses making <$1M annually on the Appstore. This is so critical as to ensure smaller companies have a chance at success and will spur further innovation in the ever changing tech space! Very glad to hear Apple has taken a step in the right direction to ease the burden on small businesses and startups who often operate on slim margins and where every dollar can make the difference between surviving and thriving.
